It isn’t every day that basketball legend Michael Jordan publicly shares his opinion on current events. Unlike WNBA players, his career has actually been centered on basketball. It’s hard to find time for whining in between all that superhuman slam dunking.
Suffice it to say, his recent statement on race wars and police deaths comes as a surprise to most. You know it’s bad when the guy who’s notorious for being silent speaks up…
I have been deeply troubled by the cowardly and hateful targeting and killing of police officers… I am saddened and frustrated by the divisive rhetoric and racial tensions that seem to be getting worse as of late. We need to find solutions that ensure people of color receive fair and equal treatment AND that police officers – who put their lives on the line every day to protect us all – are respected and supported.
I have the greatest respect for their sacrifice and service. I also recognize that for many people of color their experiences with law enforcement have been different than mine… [I] hope that we can come together as Americans, and through peaceful dialogue and education, achieve constructive change.
I am making contributions of $1 million each to two organizations, the International Association of Chiefs of Police’s newly established Institute for Community-Police Relations and the NAACP Legal Defense fund. We are privileged to live in the world’s greatest country… If we all work together, we can foster positive change.
Seems pretty reasonable, right? His efforts are noteworthy, barring the fact that the NAACP is a raging dumpster fire most recently orchestrated by a woman in blackface (no, not Shaun King)… It appears that he sincerely cares about both police and blacks. Which, hey, shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. His level-headedness is commendable. Right?
But angry BLM supporters seem to disagree. The Uncle Tom accusations started flying before you could even say “leftist hate mob.”
No1 was waiting on #MichaelJordan 2 speak out for black ppl or #BlackLivesMatter issues. We know he only speaks when it affects his money.

Michael Jordan “saddened” about black people being killed but he’s ANGERED by the HATEFUL and SENSELESS killings of cops. Yep, Uncle Tom.

You can’t write this stuff.
Let us briefly recap: MJ denounces both the deaths of innocent blacks and police. Donates serious cash to pro-police and pro-black groups. Wants meaningful, pro-American change. Black Lives Matter’s response? Scathing, hellfirey inferno of anger. Maybe because MJ doesn’t fit the narrative that leftists keep pushing. You know, the one that says blacks can’t be successful and friends with the police. Maybe it’s because they hate Space Jam. Monsters.
Or maybe it’s because Michael considered all the facts before making his statement and donations. You know what they say about those…
