Because of the intensified war against illegal drugs, the number of crimes recorded in the Philippines last month dropped by about 49% compared to last year, PNP Chief Ronald Bato Dela Rosa said in the front of the members of PNP in Camp Alagar, Cagayan De Oro on Friday.
“This only goes to show that most of these crimes that are happening in our communities are drug-related. That’s why when we focused our resources and attention on the drug problem, crimes also dropped,” Dela Rosa said in his speech.
In Region 10, the PNP report shows that the monthly crime volume sinked by as much as 44 percent in July compared to the same month last year.
PNP 10 spokesperson Supt. Sarenas said that most of the crimes were usually drug related such as theft, robbery, rape and murder.
PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa also encourages the police officers to continue doing their job in compliance with the law and respect for human rights.
According to Dela Rosa, the campaign is just starting.
